Esperient Creator was originally developed by Mike Bailey as Cosmos Creator. The software has an integrated and unified development environment which includes a 3D modeler and 3D Scene composition tools; event animation and key frame animation authoring tools; user interface widgets; a powerful scripting engine; a real time physics engine; a texture creator and UV tools, as well as pixel and vertex shader authoring.Although the software is a complex beast, it has a relatively simple user interface and a WYSIWYGenvironment, meaning that media developers can focus on content creation and application development rather than using multiple software packages to create their interactive 3D applications. Much of the on-going development efforts are aimed at simplifying how the software is used and making it closer in ‘look and feel’ to other applications.

Esperient Creator is a powerful real time game/simulation engine that comprises a tightly integrated simulation event engine, parametric modeling, animation and scripting systems and real time rendering technology. Developed for the Microsoft OS, Creator is built using DirectX as the rendering system.Creator can import assets in 30 file formats with integration for Maya, Max and XSI. In addition, it has over 30 parametric modeling primitives and its own object modifier alterations system for modeling, altering or modifying inbuilt primitives and imported meshes. Both object and alteration parameters can be animated in real time. Creator’s animation system also provides support for key frame, procedural animation and integrated real time physics simulations. Within the authoring environment, animation behaviors are applied to objects with a simple mouse click, allowing the development of interactive environments without the use of code. There are over 70 animations including animation of UV maps, materials, objects, key-frames, procedural parameters, through to joystick controls, real time physics, spatial 3D sound and TCP/IP socket animations for inter-system communication.
